Biscuits….From Scratch

Do you remember how great homemade piping hot biscuits and Wildlife Removal is? Perhaps your grandmother made them for you in days past but you have not had them in years. Maybe your children have seldom had homemade snacks.

It is time to change that! It is time to change the way we make biscuits. We no longer have enough opportunity to get out the rolling pin and cover the kitchen. But luckily, there’s a quick and effortless way to go homemade with no homemade time and mess.

Build a mixing bowl and mixing spoon, 2-cup measuring cup, place of measuring spoons, and a baking sheet. You’ll also need a two 1/2-inch metal spade – the kind with a handle you squeeze to eject the meals.
Place the following ingredients nearby: buttermilk, vegetable oil, all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Pour 1 cup of buttermilk to the glass measuring cup. Add enough oil to bring the whole volume to the 1 1/2 cup mark.
Place 2 cups of flour to the bowl. Insert 2 1/2 tsp.
Here is the secret of great snacks – stir to combine, but do not over-stir. Make sure to scrape the sides so that you don’t wind up with pockets of flour.
Fill out the scoop, scrape the border to level the contents, and then eject the dough on the baking sheet. (If you don’t have a scoop, you can drop the batter from a spoon.)
Bake the biscuits until they are brown on the top and bottom – approximately 15 minutes.
These biscuits will have a somewhat more irregular shape than wrapped snacks, but the scoop provides them a more regular shape than dropping them from a spoon.

Here’s a more traditional look in the recipe:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
two 1/2 tsp. Sugar
1 tsp. Salt
scant 1/8 tsp. baking soda
Mix dry ingredients. Add buttermilk and oil. Roll and cut or drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until brown. Brush tops with butter.

That’s all there’s to it. Oh, except for selecting your favourite jelly.
